What's good everybody! It is I, Your one and only elite coder back with another article for your digest, I just got back from my sabbatical for the Christmas celebration when a question bumped into my head and I'd love to ask you. Do you rest as much as you study? Let us discuss this...

A scientific study showed that an average adult requires 7-9 hours of quality sleep although some individuals prefer six hours of sleep as they feel they see no side effects on their health and are still able to perform optimally in day-to-day activities (Seriously not a fan of this.) this begs the question Why do people think they can function optimally on 6 hours of regular sleep? This is because of a natural human phenomenon known as 'renorming'. Renorming means that we are only able to compare how we feel today to how we felt yesterday or the day before.

Well, most people that I've come in contact with usually are fond of staying up late because they feel that is when they are most effective, I believe they are called "Night Owls." While this method may be effective in getting a lot of work done, it isn't the best way to go, especially in the long run. So How do we optimize our sleep routine? We're about to find out!

  • Be Consistent: Yes, consistent sleeping time is a thing, cultivate the habit of going to bed at the same time, to make it easier. An instance is forming your bedtime routine, let's say 30 mins to bedtime you limit the amount of blue light you're exposed to. 20 mins, set up and arrange your room, and then ... sleep. ๐Ÿ˜Š

  • Make Sure Your Bedroom Is Dark, Quiet, and Comfortable: Of course, you would not be able to sleep in a place that makes you feel the opposite of relaxed. A clean bed, properly ventilated room, dimmed lights (Better if they were off completely if you ask me) This would help in helping you fall asleep faster and better.

  • Avoid Large Meals, Caffeine, and Alchohol: Although there is no right time for dinner, a preferable time would be from 7:00-8:00 pm to avoid overworking your stomach and promote better sleep quality. Eating late at night affects our blood sugar management negatively, and causes acid reflux, blood pressure, and weight gain.

  • Last but not least, Get regular exercise: Regular exercise by day makes it easier to fall asleep at night time. Oh yes, Keeping clean code isn't enough my friend. Keep a clean body too.

That brings us to the end of another entry. I hope with these few points that have be/en listed above, you now see the usefulness of getting enough rest as much as you get work done. After all, we're all humans and not automated machines. Stay sharp, remain positive, do the work, and reap your rewards. Till we meet again. โค๏ธโœจ
