Combatting Writer's Block as an upcoming developer/Blogger

Happy New Year everybody! It is I, The elite coder back again from a short hiatus with another article for your feed. Today I will be talking about a common enemy of bloggers and writers in general. WRITER'S BLOCK.

I often face writer's block as someone new to maintaining and keeping a blog. I used to think I was just lazy and unwilling to put in the work when I didn't know what to write about. Do not fret dear reader, I come bringing a solution.☝🏾

Writer's block can be tricky and frustrating at times, especially if you like to keep your work updated regularly. Here's how to combat Writer's Block in easy steps:

  1. Enhance Your Space: Enhancing your space simply means improving your designated writing/studying area. Perhaps putting up a picture of what inspires you, or adding some flowers as decor. In simple terms, make it a place you want to be.

  2. It's Okay To Be Flawed: Trying to write the perfect draft in the first strike is another major way to suffer Writer's block. Stop concerning yourself with spelling correctly, grammar, or even good writing. JUST. WRITE!

  3. READ: You can't have one without the other. If you're an avid reader you'd gain inspiration from your favorite writers. Even if you’re not always reading, try cracking a book before you sit down to write. You can read a chapter of a book, a short essay, or even something as small as 2 pages daily.

  4. Use A Writing Prompt: A writing prompt is a topic around which you start writing ideas. You're free to stick to the subject or let your mind wander. You could use these to grow and test your creativity.

  5. Plan Out A Time And Make A Habit: Put time on the calendar and commit to that time. You don’t have to come up with ideas or inspiration, but you do have to show up and follow through. Eventually, after the first few tries, the ideas would flow naturally.

Writer's block is something everyone faces once in a while. Don't beat yourself up about it. Rather sit back, relax and make adjustments where they're needed. This will be where I hang the pen for now ladies and gents. Do the work always, even when you don.t feel like it. Stay positive. ✨😌
